AoG reticulated gas contract extended by 12 months

New Zealand Government Procurement (NZGP) has successfully extended the supply agreement for reticulated gas with Genesis.

The final term of the AoG reticulated gas contract expires on 30 September 2024. We've successfully negotiated with Genesis to continue the supply of reticulated gas to participating agencies and schools for 12 months from 1 October 2024.

We know gas supply has been tight for some time and recent forecasts from the Gas Industry Company (the co-regulator) suggest it is getting tighter than expected, faster than expected.

This short-term agreement will ensure a continued gas supply to government agencies and schools while we investigate a more permanent solution.
