Consultation underway on Government model contract templates refresh
We are consulting with government agencies, suppliers, providers and businesses to seek feedback on refreshed versions of the Government model contract templates. This will be the 3rd edition of the Government model contract templates since they were first issued in 2011.
Government model contract templates are a suite of contract templates that can be used when purchasing low-value, low-risk common goods and services. Using the templates helps suppliers when working with government so that we are using similar language, terms and conditions. The contract templates save effort, improve consistency and reduce legal costs for government and contracting partners.
The Government model contract templates have been refreshed to ensure they are up to date with current procurement Rules, and new elements such as broader outcomes.
There are 11 templates available for feedback and you can find out more about the consultation, the refreshed templates, and how to provide feedback on the Have Your Say consultation page.
About the consultation
We would like feedback on:
- A new clause to reflect the Health and Safety at Work Act
- A new clause on the supplier’s obligations to meet employment standards
- A new clause to refer to the Supplier Code of Conduct
- Whether the refreshes provide the standard, simple, plain English set of conditions that are needed.
This consultation closes on 12 October 2019.
Once all feedback on the Government model contract templates is received, we will review it and make changes before issuing the final versions in November 2019.
If you have questions, please email the Procurement team.
