Contract automation project - Government standard property templates
We have been working on updating the Government standard lease (complex and the less complex gross versions) templates. In particular, we have considered clauses impacted by recent legislative or market change.
Automation – what have we been doing?
Automating core government templates is a key part of our digital strategy. We are also including certain Government standard property documents in the automation process. The property templates to be included are the following:
- Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)
- Co-location agreement
- Agreement to Lease
- Development agreement
- Government Standard Deed of Lease – Complex Gross and Less Complex Gross
Benefits of automation
Automating these templates will produce accurate, reliable and up-to-date documents and contracts. It will also reduce document-editing time and standardise formatting, with the general aim of making our templates much easier for agencies to use.
How does automation work?
An online tool will ask the user key questions, for example, for the ‘Agreement to Lease’ template, it will require information such as the premises description, rent, commencement date, lease term etc.
Once all the questions have been answered, the tool will turn out a completed document. The user will still have the ability to make certain edits in the body of the document if required.
The estimated timing for automation of the property templates is January 2021.
We are very excited about this initiative and look forward to telling you more about it in the following weeks.
