Increase your influence at work

Our popular Influencing in Action programme is back, starting 3 February 2023. The course provides tons of actionable content and empowers you to shake up your influencing for the better.

This programme is designed for mid-career procurement professionals and emerging leaders.

You will learn:

  • how to positively influence colleagues, suppliers and stakeholders
  • skills and tools to influence change and build productive relationships
  • confidence to apply what you learn to your work and/or personal life.

This programme has been such a huge help to me to become better at stakeholder management and influencing.

Storm Dolan-Robson  Procurement Advisor, Ministry for Pacific Peoples

You must have the support of your manager and commit to the entire eight-week programme. This is non-negotiable as places are limited.

We will communicate directly with your managers about the programme and the support required.

The eight-week programme is facilitated by Stu Van Rij, from Brickfield Consulting, and supported by our Capability team.

The programme:

  • uses active projects to drive real world applications
  • provides group-based coaching for practical support and connections
  • incorporates the voice of the supplier and the customer to broaden perspectives
  • reinforces behaviour on a weekly basis to build momentum and habits
  • is designed to build long-term retention to facilitate long-term impact.

The programme has been very useful in both my work and personal life. What I’ve learned over the past few weeks has had a positive impact on my confidence and ability to influence. Working relationships with my stakeholders are benefitting from the easy-to-use toolkit the programme has provided me.

Cath Mitchell  Procurement Category Manager, Land Information New Zealand

Apart from a final in person wrap-up in Wellington, this course is delivered entirely online.

You’ll need to commit to:

  • a 90-minute masterclass and 60-minute group coaching session each week.
  • work outside of online sessions of approximately 1 hour per week.
  • some weeks will have an additional 1-hour session, such as to kick-off the programme or for a voice of the supplier interview.

 You manager’s commitment is to:

  • support your practice and application of the knowledge and skills learned on the course by connecting with you after each masterclass
  • use the managers prompts to test the knowledge and practice of the participant
  • approve travel to Wellington for the final in-person session.

Except for travel or accommodation, this programme is fully funded by New Zealand Government Procurement (NZGP).
