Open Data, Open Potential event
The aim for Open Data, Open Potential is to inform, challenge and inspire.
Come and hear from keynote speaker Carlos Rozo, former Digital Government Director for Colombia on 6 March from 1pm to 4pm. Colombia is ranked 3rd in the OECD “OURdata Index”, where New Zealand is ranked just 13th. Carlos will share how Colombia is combatting corruption head-on through building a trusting and collaborative relationship with citizens through open data, especially open contract (procurement), companies and detailed expenditure data.
You will also hear how a charity, Navigate Your Way, has used open data to help people find the help they need. Hamilton City Council will demonstrate how they have incorporated open by design into an innovative approach to enterprise data management. And finally (before a chance to network) a panel representing both government and civil society will discuss what they think should be next for open government data.
