Procurement capability index (PCI) reporting for 2024 is underway

Part of: All-of-Government Procurement news

The reporting due date for this year's Procurement Capability Index (PCI) is 29 November 2024.

The PCI is a self-assessment tool that measures agencies' procurement capability and identifies areas of strength and potential improvement. All mandated agencies must rate their capability on a range of specified areas – for example, governance, strategy, planning, sourcing and management.

Changes to the platform that used to host the PCI tool have meant we’ve had to find a new way of delivering it. We’ve taken this as an opportunity to engage with agencies and refresh our approach to this reporting.

The new PCI includes questions that will help us better understand agency procurement activities. To reduce subjectivity, the questions have been made more specific and designed to provide measurable insights. This means we will be able to give you more meaningful reporting and insights.

This new approach means we can provide agencies with detailed reporting to help identify areas for development, comparisons with similar sized agencies and opportunities for NZGP to assist.
