Supporting the launch of the procurement platform
The All-of-Government External legal services (ELS) contract will migrate to the free-to-access, procurement platform this year. We’re working with organisations most likely to use the procurement platform in 2025.
“Once a contract migrates to the procurement platform this will be where agency staff will find providers and do their secondary procurement activities. We are prioritising support to larger agencies who are using – or intend to use – these contracts frequently. We want them to be well prepared.”
“We’ve been really busy behind the scenes building and testing and moving the project towards this goal – users of ELS interacting in a common digital space. Nominated people – or change leads – in each agency, will be a vital to help coordinate technical implementation of the platform at their agency and prepare users of the ELS contract to use the platform.”
“The change lead will most likely be a procurement person in an agency. New Zealand Government Procurement will support them with all necessary information to help land the Procurement Platform in their organisation successfully. We see this person as an extension of our project team, and we are looking forward to partnering with them.”
“After launching with the External legal services contract, we intend to continue to work with the change leads to support the migration of other contracts to the platform. New Zealand Government Procurement manages a wide range of contracts. There are other lead agencies we want to bring onto the platform as well, so there will be further change once ELS is migrated and we’re comfortable the platform is performing.”

New Zealand Government Procurement 's procurement platform will support New Zealand's economic growth by driving smarter government spending. It will help government to improve commercial outcomes for our $51 billion of annual government investment and creates opportunities for innovation and efficiency. It is a multi-phase project.
We have sent emails and invitations to the change lead support webinars but if we have missed you and you think your agency will use any of these four All-of-Government contracts in 2025, email Procurement for the Future.
