Upcoming consultation on extending the Rules to state and public sector agencies
The government’s response to COVID-19 has highlighted an opportunity to improve the standards and consistency of government procurement practice and accelerate the delivery of broader social, cultural, economic and environmental outcomes.
We are consulting on the impact and implications of a wider set of state and public sector agencies applying the Rules.
Now more than ever we need to work together to drive change, strengthen capability and assurance, and build resilience in the supply market. The public sector spends around $42 billion each year and the size and nature of this spend means there is significant collective impact drive better outcomes for New Zealand.
For agencies in the state and public sector not required to apply the Rules, there may be opportunities to adopt more consistent practices and standards and to leverage our buying power in All-of-Government contracts to contribute to our COVID-19 response.
